What you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how it works when you pay. Plain language wherever the law lets us.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and 69RODEO (Pty) Ltd. They apply when you visit getrodeo.app, join the waitlist, apply to list your crew, and — once it launches — use the RODEO mobile app and Apple Watch app (together, the "Services").
By using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
Please read the clauses in bold carefully. They limit our responsibility, ask you to accept certain risks, or require you to indemnify us — sections 7, 17, 18 and 19 in particular. We've highlighted them because South African consumer law asks us to draw your attention to terms like these.
The app is not live yet. Terms that describe the app will apply from launch, and we'll tell you before anything here materially changes.
RODEO is operated by 69RODEO (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2024/145923/07), a private company registered in South Africa ("RODEO", "we", "us" or "our"). You can reach us at info@getrodeo.app.
You must be at least 18 to use the Services on your own. If you're under 18, you may only use them with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.
You also need to be legally able to enter into a binding agreement, and not barred from using the Services under any applicable law.
Joining the waitlist is free and needs only your name and a confirmed email address. When you join, we assign you a founding member number.
The first 1,000 confirmed members on the waitlist ("Founding Members") receive, once the app launches:
Founding benefits are personal to you and can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for cash. One founding number per person — duplicate or fake sign-ups may be removed. The waitlist doesn't oblige you to subscribe, and it doesn't guarantee a launch date.
RODEO runs on a single premium subscription: R79.99/month, with a free 14-day trial for new sign-ups. Final pricing and features will be confirmed before the app opens, and the waitlist hears first. We'll always show you the price, billing period and what's included before you subscribe. Nobody is charged anything through this website today — no payment method is collected when you join the waitlist.
In-app subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their payment terms also apply. We never see your full card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in your App Store or Google Play account settings; deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. After cancelling, you keep paid features until the end of the period you've paid for.
New sign-ups get a free 14-day trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription and you'll be charged at the start of your first billing period.
We may change subscription prices. We'll give you reasonable notice before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Founding Members keep the founding price as described in section 4.
Where the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act applies, you may cancel a subscription bought electronically within 7 days after the transaction without reason or penalty, and receive a refund of what you paid less only the direct cost of any service you've already received. Refunds for purchases through Apple or Google are processed through their refund channels — contact us if you need help. Beyond that, and except where the law requires otherwise, payments for a billing period that has started aren't refundable.
RODEO is a fitness and training product, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Readiness and recovery scores, training suggestions, and terrain and weather calls are estimates based on the data available — they can be wrong or out of date.
Running, riding and hiking involve real risks, including injury, illness, falls, traffic, wildlife, extreme weather and getting lost. You choose when, where and how hard to train, and you accept those risks. In particular:
The events page and crew features list meetups, races and group sessions run by independent organisers. Unless we clearly say an event is run by RODEO, we don't organise, supervise or insure it, and we aren't responsible for how it's run, whether it goes ahead, or anything that happens there. Details like dates, times and meeting points come from organisers and can change — confirm with them before you go.
If you apply to list your crew, you confirm the information you send is accurate and that you're allowed to share it. We decide which listings to publish and may edit or remove them at any time. Organisers are responsible for their own events, participants' safety and any permits, insurance or waivers required.
"Your content" means the activities, routes, photos, comments, profile details and anything else you upload or create in the Services. You own your content.
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display and share your content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Services, and in line with the visibility settings you choose. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already saved or reshared, and backups we keep for a limited time.
You confirm you have the rights to the content you share and that it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights. You can export your full archive at any time.
RODEO works because crews trust each other. When using the Services, you agree not to:
We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules. Report problems to info@getrodeo.app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information, including activity, location and health data. It forms part of these Terms.
The Services work with devices and services we don't control — Apple Health, Apple Watch, Garmin and other wearables, sign-in providers, app stores, maps, weather sources, and social platforms. Your use of them is governed by their own terms. We aren't responsible for their availability, accuracy or conduct, and a change on their side may affect what RODEO can do.
The Services — including the app, website, design, text, graphics, the RODEO name, the burst mark and other logos, and the software behind them — belong to 69RODEO (Pty) Ltd or our licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for your own non-commercial use, in line with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from the Services, or use our name or marks, without our written permission.
We love hearing ideas, especially from the founding crew. If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve RODEO without owing you anything, and without any obligation to use them.
RODEO is new and will change quickly. We may add, change or remove features, and some features may be labelled beta or experimental. If we remove a paid feature that's a core part of your subscription, we'll tell you in advance and, where appropriate, offer a pro-rata refund or other remedy. We aim to keep the Services available, but we can't promise they'll always be uninterrupted or error-free.
You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an app-store subscription — cancel that separately.
We may suspend or close your account, or remove your founding benefits, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we have to by law, or to protect other users or the Services. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including 9, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 20 — will continue to apply.
To the extent the law allows, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available". Data from GPS, sensors and wearables can be inaccurate, and metrics, scores, routes, maps, weather, terrain and event information may be incomplete, wrong or out of date. We don't promise that the Services will meet every need, be free of errors, or produce any particular training result.
Nothing in these Terms limits any warranty or right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that can't be excluded.
To the extent the law allows, RODEO, its directors, employees and suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Services. We are also not liable for injury, illness, death, or loss or damage to property resulting from physical activity, events run by others, or reliance on information in the Services, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim, or R500.
These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them to, including liability that can't be limited under the Consumer Protection Act.
To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify 69RODEO (Pty) Ltd against third-party claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of the law or someone else's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at info@getrodeo.app — most issues can be sorted out quickly. If we can't resolve it, either of us may take the dispute to a competent South African court, and you may also approach the National Consumer Commission or another consumer body.
If you live outside South Africa, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow.
We'll update these Terms as RODEO grows, most notably before the app launches. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a material change, we'll give you notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the Services after that, the new Terms apply; if you don't agree, you can stop using the Services and cancel your subscription.
